词汇要点：

1) articulate//v. 清楚明白地说。

2) grasp//v. 抓住、掌握。

结构要点：

1) 主干是It is the reason why when ，all we can do is articulate ,and not grasp ;。

2) 其中why是定语从句，修饰reason;。

3) when引导的状语从句对应的主句是all we can do isarticulate , and not grasp 。

汉译逻辑要点：

1) Itis also the reason why 是整个句子的主干部分，后面why引导的是一个定语从句修饰名词the reason。可以直接翻译为：这也是为什么 的原因。

2) whenwe try to describe music with words中withwords是介词短语做状语，修饰describe music，需要翻译到其前面。这个部分可以翻译为：在我们试图用语言来描述音乐时。

3) allwe can do is + 动词原形的做法。一般认为前面all we can do既然有动词do，所以后面的动词articulate就习惯用原形了，其实是all we can do is (to) articulate 。其次，all we can do是主语，在结构上主语中心词是all，后面we can do是省略that的定语从句修饰all，这个结构具有强调意味，翻译为 我们所能做的只是 ，或者 我们只能 。

4) andnot grasp music itself是与上文articulate并列的表语部分，它们都是省略了to的不定式。可以直接翻译为：而不能理解音乐本身。或者引申为 而不能理解音乐的本质 都可以接受。
